  • What you will do

    You will ensure the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) culture through constant interaction on the plant floor with employees, supervisors, and management. This will include assisting with hazard identification and the development of safe work procedures, identifying, developing, and delivering safety training supplements, and providing day-to-day guidance and advice.

    You will provide EHS solutions to managers, supervisors, and employees for all shop activities, recommend strategic direction and implement plans based on recent EHS audit results, and ensure that policies and programs meet legislated requirements.

    How you will do it

  • Take responsibility for any necessary action to maintain overall safe practices and procedures, including the cessation of an unsafe operating procedure.

  • Liaise with production to ensure all manufacturing activities are conducted according to company Health and Safety policies and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations.

  • Conduct EHS inspections to ensure all equipment and buildings owned or operated by the company comply with safety and fire regulations and any other provincial or federal regulations.

  • Enhance, maintain, and present EHS procedures and policies for existing employees and visitors as required.

  • Provide necessary training, leadership, organization, PPE allocation, and control to meet the company’s goal of zero accidents.

  • Investigate accidents thoroughly and effectively, and then respond appropriately as required, including assisting with liability determination and causation, resolution of open claims, communicating to, training, and following up with supervisors and employees, and recommending and implementing corrective action plans where applicable.

  • Coordinate EHS supplies by ensuring appropriate supplies are identified and purchased in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Monitor safety performance of each worker and administer corrective discipline for safety violations where applicable.

  • Monitor and measure effectiveness of all EHS programs and documentation required as part of compliance with local regulations.

  • Work closely with the joint EHS committee and all levels of management to ensure safety and compliance is observed at all levels.

  • Work closely with the EHS Manager to develop manuals, policies, and procedures for training and safe work practices to be implemented.

  • Conduct effective job hazard and ergonomics analysis of the workplace and for all work centers, including capturing photos of non-compliances.

  • File request for accident evaluations, ensuring unpreventable accidents are recorded as such wherever applicable.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with Silent-Aire Limited Partnership safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.

  • Be part of a regularly schedule on call rotation with fellow EHS professionals to provide support on nights and weekends at our facilities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
