OVERVIEW:

Under the direction of the Manager of Medical Underwriting, this role is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Manager and all Medical Underwriters in accordance with the required standards, policies and procedures of the department.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Prepare correspondence for group members, plan administrators and third parties.

  • Responsible for accurate verbal and written communication.

  • Communicate with other Alberta Blue Cross departments to provide and exchange information.

  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries from members.

  • Communicate with third party vendors and medical staff.

  • Book Paramedical Exams and order documentation from physicians.

  • Update various databases.

  • WHAT

    YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have strong computer skills.

  • Must possess knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • Must have a thorough understanding of employer sponsored programs.

  • An understanding of medical terminology would be considered an asset and applicants will be given priority.

  • Must be meticulous and detail-oriented.

  • Must have excellent time management skills.

  • Must exhibit professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.

  • Must be a strong team player with a cooperative attitude.

  • This position will remain open until suitable candidates are selected.
