The Crime Analysis Section of the Edmonton Police Service requires two (2) full-time Criminal Intelligence Analyst with strong tactical and strategic analytical skills for the Edmonton Police Service. The successful candidate qualities include demonstrating and applying creative and critical thought process, strong communication skills and can work independently and thoroughly as well in a collaborative team setting. The candidate should be intrinsically motivated and intellectually curious.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
Develop a variety of analytical products using; temporal and spatial analysis, phone and/or GPS analysis, association charts, timelines, predictive analysis, trend analysis, and social network analysis.Providing tactical, operational and/or strategic analytical products.Develop and apply analytical methodologies.Performing advanced functions in creating intelligence through data collection, collation, analysis, and dissemination process as required.Prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc crime briefings for dissemination to operations units of the Edmonton Police Service.Monitors criminal activates to identify crime patterns.Developing and preparing factual statistical reports and briefings and perform statistical analysis for reporting purposes.Presenting developed intelligence in professional and public forums.Liaising with various law enforcement and correctional agencies for intelligence sharing purposes.Perform analysis using a variety of complex techniques and software applications with an ability to learn new systems and ways of working.Managing and maintaining various databases.Strong organizational and prioritization skills and can work well in dynamic environments.Performing offender identification related duties.Excellent data management skills with an ability to create clear, well-structured and intelligence stories on complex subjects.Ability to work with a high degree of independent judgment using sensitive and confidential information.Performing other related duties as assigned.Applicants may be tested.Job Requirements:
An undergraduate degree in a related field of study (i.e. Social Sciences or Criminology) with a minimum of two (2) years related working experienceKnowledge of analytical methods, statistics, and practices.Strong research capabilities.Strong computer skills relevant to crime analysis (Microsoft Office, Analytical Software and GIS applications).Arc Pro, i2 analyst notebook, iBase and/or Power BI experience will be considered an asset.Ability to produce a variety of professional analytical and statistical reports and presentations.Strong verbal and written communication skills in addition to the ability to work well in a team environment.Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, Monday - Friday. The successful candidate may be required to work evenings and/or weekends to assist as required. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of variable hours of work program.
Salary Range:
Job Level:
21M, Salary Grade: 029, $49.916 - $62.735 (Hourly), $3,369.30 - $4,234.60 (Bi-Weekly) $87,939.51- $ (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
Opportunity Concept Level:
21A, Salary Grade: 012, $39.736 - $47.562 (Hourly), $2,682.20 - $3,210.40 (Bi-Weekly) $70,004.90 - $83,792.35 (Annually).
The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
