Role Responsibilities
The Financial Analyst reports to the Finance Manager and is responsible for monitoring and analyzing financial activity while providing informed financial advice to the Edmonton Region. This role offers financial expertise to all worksites within the Region and includes preparing cost‑benefit assessments and business‑case analyses for Children and Family Services expenditures. The Analyst also supports the Finance Manager and Budget Officers by carrying out several key functions.
The Analyst reviews all agency‑audited financial statements to ensure they meet audit standards and offers recommendations related to surplus or deficit positions. They prepare monthly invoices for Delegated First Nation Agencies, manage cost recoveries, and complete general ledger coding corrections. They run regular financial queries and reports to identify and correct financial errors, and they produce quarterly financial reports to highlight variances requiring attention.
The Analyst also provides audit samples as requested by auditors.
