Job Overview:
Grizzly Trek is currently seeking one C-Commissioning Operator - Air Separation Unit (ASU) to join our Valued Clients team in Edmonton, Alberta.

This is a full-time position, ideally suited to an individual committed to excellence, leadership, and safety.

Reporting to the Commissioning Coordinator, the ASU Commissioning Operator is responsible for overseeing the initial startup, testing, and stabilization of the Air Separation Unit (ASU).

This role ensures all equipment is safely energized, tested, and brought to full production capacity in compliance with safety and operational standards.

The position requires close coordination with vendors and subcontractors and significant hands-on field involvement, including troubleshooting equipment, verifying system performance against design specifications, and supporting the training of Operations personnel.

Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance Adhere to all site-specific safety directives and initiatives, including the Simultaneous Operations (SIMOPS) / Safety in Transition (SIT) Plan.

Understand and comply with all EH&S standards, including permitting requirements, energy isolation (LOTO), and Basic Safety Process (BSP) requirements.

Act as a Safety Ambassador by planning and participating in site safety drills and practices.

Actively participate in site inspections, safety meetings, and toolbox talks.

Ensure all accidents and incidents are promptly reported.

Commissioning (First 3 Months) Rapidly become familiar with commissioning and startup plans.

Review System Commissioning Packages and procedures.

Complete Safety Work Permit (SWP) training.

Align with commissioning strategy, documentation, and execution plans.

Field Execution Support Construction Complete (CC) walkdowns.

Support Mechanical Complete (MC) walkdowns.

Install energy isolations and issue Safety Work Permits (SWPs) as required.

Execute commissioning and startup procedures.

Provide daily progress updates to the Commissioning Coordinator.

Redline Operations Site Work Instruction Manuals (SWIMs / Operating Procedures).

Support commissioning of critical cryogenic equipment including:
Main and booster air compressors Compander systems Cryogenic pumps Cold box cooldown processes Support and oversee vendors and contractors onsite; monitor progress and compliance.

Share commissioning and startup experience with team members; mentor junior personnel.

Support training of Operations personnel.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience Certifications Power Engineer – Minimum 4th Class Certification Experience Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on operator experience with cryogenic Air Separation Units (ASU).

Previous experience in a commissioning or startup role is strongly preferred.

Technical Knowledge Strong understanding of cryogenic air separation processes.

Working knowledge of distillation and molecular sieve technology (Temperature Swing Adsorption-TSA).

Oxygen systems awareness, including cleanliness standards and high-pressure pure oxygen safety protocols.
