Reporting to the Director of Water Management Infrastructure, this role leads the delivery of complex water management infrastructure projects across central and northern Alberta. You will oversee construction and rehabilitation projects while leading a team of engineers and provide specialist design and construction related expertise.

These projects are critical to Alberta’s water supply, flood protection, drought mitigation, and interprovincial commitments. Each brings unique technical, environmental, and stakeholder challenges requiring innovative thinking, strong leadership, and effective collaboration with consultants, contractors, communities, and government partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of water management infrastructure projects, managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, construction, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical oversight and specialist review of designs, construction activities, and contract administration.
  • Procure and manage engineering consultants, ensuring the consultant’s work conforms with departmental standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure environmental, regulatory, and public consultation requirements are met.
  • Oversee project budgets, forecasts, payments, and change orders -.
  • Act as a technical resource for internal staff and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and maintenance of construction specifications, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Mentor and support a team of engineers.
  • Support the coordination of provincial water management capital and maintenance budgets.
