Parkland School Division is seeking to fill various Temporary Part-Time Education Assistant positions to support intervention programming for students in Grades 1–4 across Parkland School Division. The successful candidates will provide targeted literacy and numeracy intervention supports, communicate regularly with teachers regarding student programming needs, and track learning progress through observation using provided templates. This position requires travel to various sites within the Division.
Specific locations and schedules will be determined based on operational needs. This posting will remain open until qualified applicants have been hired, if interested please apply ASAP. This temporary position does not include benefits or leave entitlements.
- Delivering small-group and/or 1:1 foundational literacy and numeracy interventions
- Preparing/organizing intervention materials and schedules
- Communicating effectively with teachers about student programming needs and progress
- Tracking learning progress through observation and documentation on provided templates
- Working independently and maintaining highly organized systems to support programming
- Supervise students
- Educational Assistant Certificate (or comparable education) is an asset
- Experience working with students in Grades 1–4
- Understanding of foundational literacy and numeracy skills, or willingness to be trained
- Strong organization and ability to work independently
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to speak French
- Previous Educational Assistant experience
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- The ability to take direction and work independently
- Flexibility, patience, sensitivity, tolerance, enthusiasm, creativity and imagination
- The ability to deal with the emotional and mental stress of working with children/group of children/school setting.
- First Aid Certificate
- Courses or training in Attention Deficit Disorder, Special Needs Disorders, English as a Second Language, Behaviour Management, Crisis Prevention, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, and Food Handling and Preparation, would be an asset
- Knowledge of office equipment
- Knowledge of computers

Hours of Work: 15-20 hours/week
Pay Rate: $/hr (Pay Group
3) for EA Certified Employees and $24.17/hr-$26.98/hr for EA Non-Certified Employees (Pay Group
2)
