Spruce Grove Composite High School (SGCHS) is a comprehensive Grade 10-12 facility that serves as a cornerstone of the Spruce Grove community. With a student population of over 1,200, SGCHS offers a diverse and inclusive learning environment characterized by its "Panther Pride" spirit. The school provides a wide array of programming, from high-level academics and an extensive suite of Career and Technology Studies (CTS), including mechanics, fabrication, and cosmetology.
The school is also home to students who wish to continue their French Immersion experience through high school.
This is an exceptionally exciting time to join the administrative team meet the needs of a rapidly growing region, a brand-new, state-of-the-art replacement school is currently under construction on the existing site. This $128 million project will increase student capacity to over 1,900 and feature modern, collaborative learning spaces, enhanced fine arts facilities, and cutting-edge CTS labs. The successful candidate for this Assistant Principal position will play a vital role in providing leadership and stability for staff and students during this transition, adding essential administrative capacity as the school prepares to move into its new home in 2028.
This position is anticipated to be a two-year term, designed to support the transition and development of our new school. Following the completion of the term, the role is expected to conclude. The successful candidate will be supported in exploring other administrative opportunities within the Division or may return to a teaching assignment consistent with their background and qualifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Providing leadership to teaching teams to support the development of engaging learning environments, including effective assessment practices that drive student growth.
Collaborating with staff, parents, and students to deliver quality programs responsive to the school community.
Supporting school routines and business procedures to ensure a safe, caring, and fiscally responsible environment.
Working as a member of the administrative team to maintain a positive school culture and a sense of community.
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Education (completed or in-progress) and a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
Certification (achieved, in progress, or willing to complete) is an asset.
A commitment to supporting First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students and leading educational change for meaningful reconciliation.
A track record of exemplary teaching and a commitment to a distributed decision-making model.
Strong interpersonal, communication and facilitation skills.
