Architectural Technologist

Walter Fedy is seeking a Architectural Technologist to join our expanding Edmonton office. In this position, you will collaborate directly with architects on a variety of projects as a valued member of our Architectural team. Acting as a critical link between architectural concepts and completed construction, you will help ensure that designs are realized into buildings that are both functional and high performing.

Your technical expertise will support our architecture and engineering teams throughout all phases of project development, contributing to the design and successful delivery of award-winning facilities for our clients.

• Prepare technical drawings in accordance with established codes, standards, and other specifications, under the guidance of senior staff.
• Generate accurate plans and details using knowledge of construction techniques, record drawings, drawing mark-ups, and instructions provided by architects and engineers.
• Maintain catalogue information and technical file systems to ensure efficient organization and retrieval of project data.
• Coordinate with other disciplines and team members, including in-house integrated teams and external consultants.
• Complete Revit and/or CAD tasks assigned by more senior staff, following established workflows and procedures.
• Ensure work products meet high-quality standards, Revit and/or CAD standards, and deadlines set by project managers.
• Participate in quality assurance and control programs, with guidance from senior team members.
• Assist with various tasks and projects as assigned by supervisors or senior team members to support the overall success of the team and company objectives.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to our company values of quality, client focus, teamwork, sustainability, and community, integrating these principles into daily work practices and interactions with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.

• Graduate of an Architectural Technology diploma or related program.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the design/drafting of a variety of architectural projects
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Suite of programs with a strong understanding of architectural design principles and visualization techniques.
• Good understanding of Canadian building construction and basic building systems.
• Excellent graphic presentation skills, with the ability to communicate ideas effectively through sketches, drawings, and renderings.
• Strong conceptual thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and interact with clients and stakeholders.
• Previous internship or work experience in an architectural or design firm is preferred.
