Job Description

As a Quantity Surveyor you will be involved in:

Cost Control & Commercial Oversight

  • Monitor and validate contractor submissions, progress claims, and payment applications.
  • Support the Owner’s cost control team with cost forecasting, variance analysis, and monthly reporting.
  • Review and confirm accuracy of labour hour data, equipment usage, and material consumption from site.
  • Assist in implementing earned value management (EVM) across contractor work packages.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports for the Owner’s leadership
  • Quantity Measurement & Progress Verification

  • Conduct field-based measurements to verify installed quantities for civil, structural, mechanical, and piping work.
  • Review contractor progress against approved quantity baselines, schedules, and work packages.
  • Maintain accurate quantity tracking aligned with project controls requirements.
  • Validate as‑built quantities and support quantity reconciliation during closeout.
  • Change Management & Contract Compliance

  • Identify potential scope changes early and document impacts in coordination with engineering and construction.
  • Review and assess contractors change requests and claims for entitlement, cost impacts, and schedule implications.
  • Maintain the Owner’s Change Register and ensure compliance with contractual change procedures.
  • Support negotiation of change order values on behalf of the Owner.
  • Contract Administration & Commercial Assurance

  • Review contractor subcontract administration practices to ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Verify the accuracy of subcontractor progress reporting, pricing, field tickets, and back charges.
  • Provide recommendations to the Owner regarding commercial risks, inconsistencies, or contract performance issues.
  • Field Coordination & Interface Support

  • Build strong working relationships with field supervisors, engineering, contractor QS teams, and project controls.
  • Participate in site walks, progress meetings, and construction coordination sessions.
  • Provide commercial insight to the project team, highlighting risks, trends, and opportunities.
  • Project Closeout Support

  • Assist in preparing final account documentation, quantity reconciliations, and verification of contractor final claims.
  • Ensure accurate turnover of commercial and quantity records to the Owner.
  • Qualifications

  • 6–8 years of experience in quantity surveying, cost control, or project controls on industrial construction projects.
  • Experience supporting an Owner or EPC/EPCM is considered a strong asset.
