  • Shift premium pay: $3.25 per hour for weekends and holidays, $2.75 per hour for evenings
Overview

Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park is seeking motivated, hardworking individuals for the Cabin Caretaker position. Responsibilities include janitorial duties, grounds keeping, customer service and managing site reservations, with a focus on maintaining quality standards and complying with departmental guidelines and OHS regulations.

Responsibilities Administrative Duties
  • Represent Alberta Parks professionally, wearing uniform as per policy
  • Apply policies, directives, procedures and protocols
Business Operations (Registration Booth)
  • Operate  system for camper registration, changes, check‑outs and payments
  • Use ASPIRA software for cash register and POS operations, ensuring accurate balances
  • Maintain building security through opening and closing procedures and manage facility safety
  • Communicate hours of operation to visitors, keep facilities open during scheduled hours
  • Retail sales of items such as firewood, concessions, ice cream and rentals
  • Manage inventory control, restocking merchandise and report low stock to supervisor
Customer Service and Communication
  • Greet and welcome visitors in a friendly, professional manner
  • Provide accurate information on park facilities, activities, tours and regulations
  • Handle and defuse visitor concerns, complaints and emergencies, referring to appropriate departments
  • Assist and collaborate with other park staff (Rangers, Conservation Officers, Maintenance, Visitor Engagement)
  • Report system or equipment issues promptly to supervisor
  • Develop detailed knowledge of park areas and conditions to assist the public
Janitorial/Maintenance Operations
  • Daily cleaning of washrooms, outhouses, cabins, community facilities and tipis
  • General cleaning tasks (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, window washing, sanitizing)
  • Landscaping, weeding, grass cutting, garbage collection and litter pickup
  • Operate light equipment (hand tools, power tools, lawnmowers, trimmers, ATVs) as trained
  • Perform basic building maintenance tasks and painting where applicable
  • Respond to public concerns regarding facility maintenance
Occupational Health and Safety
  • Familiarize with OH&S policies and procedures
  • Apply OH&S guidelines throughout work activities
Qualifications Required
  • Some high school education
  • Physical ability to perform manual duties listed in the assignment
  • Preference for janitorial and/or housekeeping experience
Equivalency
  • Directly related experience considered at a rate of 1 year of experience per year of education
Pre‑Employment Requirements
  • Valid Criminal Record Check
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent)
  • Valid Defensive Driving Certificate
  • Valid Driver’s Abstract
  • Valid Standard First Aid/CPR‑C Certificate
  • WHMIS 2015 Certificate
Assets
  • Strong customer service skills with good English language proficiency
  • Outgoing, friendly personality that enjoys team work with the general public
  • Experience with POS machines and retail cash handling
  • Knowledge of computer software (Excel, Outlook, Word, Publisher)
  • Knowledge of Alberta Parks and experience with
  • Familiarity with campground operations and park regulations
  • Familiarity with janitorial and/or housekeeping duties
  • Good organizational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Independent problem‑solving and adaptability
  • Ability to operate light equipment and tools
Additional Information
  • Seasonal wages: start end of April 2026 to September 2026
  • Hours:

    40‑hour weeks, 8‑hour shifts; evenings, weekends, and holidays required
  • Staff housing may be available at the park
  • Security screening, Criminal Record Check and Driver Abstract required prior to commencement
