Customs BrokerOur client is seeking an experienced and licensed Canadian Customs Broker to lead and expand national customs brokerage operations. This role is responsible for ensuring
regulatory compliance, managing brokerage operations, driving
strategic growth, and overseeing financial performance. The Customs Broker will act as the licensed officer with CBSA and collaborate across logistics, freight forwarding, and compliance teams to deliver integrated trade solutions.
The ideal candidate will bring 7-10 years of experience in customs brokerage or international logistics, including 3+ years in a leadership role, along with deep knowledge of Canadian customs regulations and a strong track record in business development.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:Ensure full compliance with CBSA regulations, the Customs Act, CARM, and international trade agreementsMaintain and renew the company's Customs Brokerage License and act as the licensed officerOversee classification, valuation, origin, duty/tax assessments, and special import/export requirementsLead and mentor a team of customs professionals, fostering a culture of compliance and service excellenceDevelop and implement SOPs for customs clearance and brokerage operationsCollaborate with internal teams to deliver integrated logistics solutionsManage brokerage P&L, budgets, and performance metricsRecommend and implement technology solutions to improve efficiency and scalabilityBuild and maintain strong client relationships and act as a subject-matter expertRepresent the company at industry events and with regulatory bodiesYour strengths include:Licensed Customs Broker in Canada (mandatory)7-10 years of experience in customs brokerage, trade compliance, or international logistics3+ years in a leadership or management roleStrong knowledge of Canadian customs regulations, tariff classification, valuation, origin, and CARMProven business development and client relationship skillsProficiency in customs brokerage software (e.g., CDS, Cargowise, Descartes) and MS OfficeExcellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilitiesBilingual (English/French) considered an asset
