Our Human Resources group is currently looking to add a Disability & Occupational Testing Specialist to our team, based in Edmonton, AB.
Reporting to the Manager, Disability & Benefits, we are seeking a highly organized and compassionate professional who has demonstrated expertise in workers’ compensation case management, drug and alcohol testing coordination, substance abuse assessments, and non-occupational injury support. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of the Canadian WCB systems, a proactive approach to employee wellness, and the ability to manage sensitive cases with discretion and care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage caseload of injured worker claims from initial report through to resolutionAssess eligibility for benefits under the Workers’ Compensation ActCoordinate care plans with healthcare providers, employers, and injured workersCommunicate decisions and next steps clearly to all stakeholdersAddress barriers to recovery and facilitate timely return-to-work plansMaintain accurate and timely documentation of all case activitiesSchedule and monitor pre-employment, random, post-incident, and return-to-duty testsLiaise with third-party labs and Medical Review OfficersInterpret and communicate test resultsEnsure compliance with internal policiesSupport employees through substance abuse programs and coordinate follow-up services as neededManage non-work-related injury and illness claims efficiently and with empathyDevelop and monitor individualized return-to-work plans in collaboration with HR and healthcare providersEnsure compliance with human rights legislation and privacy standardsAct as the primary contact for employees on medical leavePrepare reports for leadership on case trends, outcomes, and compliance metricsRequirements
Post-Secondary Education in Human Resources, Occupational Health, Disability Management, or a related field3 years of experience working with a Canadian Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB)Proven, in-depth knowledge of Canadian WCB jurisdictions, health and safety regulations, and privacy lawsPrevious experience with Drug & Alcohol program administrationStrong communication, organizational, and critical thinking skillsJob Posting End Date
