EPCOR’s Legal Team is welcoming applications for Legal Assistant [Full-Time, Permanent Position]based in Edmonton, Alberta.

Reporting to the Senior Managing Counsel, you will provide highly professional administrative support to lawyers, contribute to the smooth operation of the Legal Department, and play a key role in invoicing, document and records management, process support, and departmental coordination. Additionally, you’ll be accountable for calendar management, preparing reports and meeting materials, coordinating events, conducting research, formatting, and editing legal documents, and liaising with internal business units.

What you’d be responsible for

  • Providing a wide range of administrative support to the Legal Department, including supporting approximately four lawyers.
  • Drafting, preparing, and editing correspondence, agreements, and other documents and forms.
  • Managing calendars, preparing meeting agendas, compiling reports, coordinating events, and conducting research for legal counsel.
  • Managing the offices of the Associate General Counsel, Senior Legal Counsel, and Legal Counsel with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Independently managing and completing all aspects of Legal Department invoicing, including processing, and paying invoices, liaising with Accounts Payable, weekly review of outstanding invoice report, and annual purchase order review.
  • Managing an electronic document management system, intranet,and SharePoint content for Legal, Ethics, Code of Conduct, Privacy, and Records Management.
  • General administrative duties, such as organizing files, scheduling meetings, coordinating travel arrangements, event planning, preparing quarterly reports and maintaining department memberships.
  • Participatinginand tracking department initiatives, mail distribution, employee on-boarding and off-boarding, supply ordering and working with IT and Facilities regarding equipment and office space.
  • Maintaining department memberships, subscriptions, taking meeting minutes/ tracking action items, credit card reconciliations, opening and closing of files, and various monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Issuing purchase requisitions/orders.
  • Maintaining a very high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • What’s required to be successful

  • A Post-secondarydiploma in related field is required,with a preference for Legal Assistant or Administrative Professional Studies diploma.
  • 5+ years ofprogressivelyrelevant experience that may include:
    Legal administration, invoice and document processing for law firms or legal departments.

    Senioror Executive level administrative support including business expense reconciliation, invoicing, and records management.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including SharePoint and/or electronic document management systems.
  • Experience using Oracle or similar enterprise financial systems is critical, as invoicing from law firms is a substantial part of the role.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new systems, tools, and processes — agility and technical comfort are key.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate well with senior leaders, showing professionalism, maturity, and sound judgment.
  • Strong teamwork orientation — someone who supports peers, is able to self-manage, and work independently.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, including proofreading, document accuracy, and file organization.
  • Strong organizational skillswith the ability to balance priorities and deliver high‑quality work on time.
  • High level of discretion and ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to adapt to changing priorities.
