About the Position
The Outpatient Surgery RN is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients undergoing outpatient surgical procedures. This includes pre-operative and post-operative care, patient education, and ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment. The RN collaborates with physicians, surgical teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care and positive patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform pre-operative assessments and provide pre-op teaching to patients and families.

Administer medications and monitor patient responses according to established protocols.

Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring correct identification, consent, and procedure verification.

Monitor patients in the recovery phase, managing pain, vitals, and post-op complications.

Document all nursing care in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.

Educate patients and families about post-operative care and discharge instructions.

Communicate effectively with the surgical team regarding patient status and any concerns.

Adhere to infection control and safety procedures.

Maintain accurate, timely, and complete records of patient care and progress.

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education.
