Description
Star Lumber and Supply is seeking a dynamic and results-driven General Manager to lead our Oklahoma City Building Material operations. This role is responsible for overseeing overall business performance, including lumberyard operations, door mill production, delivery services, and sales performance
. The General Manager will drive operational excellence, revenue growth, team development, customer satisfaction, and profitability while ensuring alignment with company culture standards and strategic goals.
- Oversee daily operations of the lumberyard, door mill, delivery fleet, and sales departments.
- Ensure efficient workflow, productivity, and quality control across all divisions.
- Implement and monitor operational procedures to improve safety, efficiency, and cost control.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and local/state regulations.
- Manage inventory control, purchasing, and shrink reduction.
- Supervise door manufacturing and assembly operations.
- Ensure production schedules meet customer deadlines and quality standards.
- Optimize labor efficiency, material usage, and equipment performance.
- Partner with purchasing and sales teams to forecast demand and maintain appropriate inventory levels.
- Lead and develop inside and outside sales teams.
- Establish sales goals and monitor performance metrics.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with builders, contractors, and key accounts.
- Identify market opportunities and develop strategies to grow market share in the Oklahoma City region.
- Support pricing strategies and margin management.
- Oversee dispatch and delivery operations to ensure timely and accurate shipments.
- Maintain fleet performance, safety compliance, and driver accountability.
- Improve routing efficiencies and reduce delivery-related costs.
- Manage branch P&L performance.
- Develop and monitor annual budgets.
- Analyze financial reports to identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Control expenses while maximizing profitability.
- Recruit, train, and develop department managers and staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, safety, and customer service.
- Conduct performance evaluations and implement development plans.
- Promote employee engagement and retention initiatives.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service excellence.
- Resolve escalated customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Represent Star Lumber & Supply in the local market and maintain strong community relationships.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- 5–10+ years of progressive leadership experience in lumber, building materials, manufacturing, or related industry.
- Prior P&L management experience required.
- Experience overseeing production environments (door mill or manufacturing preferred).
- Strong understanding of lumberyard operations and building materials.
- Proven leadership and team development abilities.
- Financial acumen with strong budgeting and cost-control skills.
- Knowledge of logistics, fleet management, and delivery operations.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Strategic thinker with operational discipline.
- Results-oriented with a strong sense of accountability.
- High integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to manage multiple departments and priorities effectively.
