General SchedulePosition typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm in-office at UCO’s main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma, some nights and weekends may be required.
Position OverviewThe Senior Director for Student Life serves as a chief officer for student engagement. The Sr. Director will provide strategic vision, leadership, and administrative oversight for programs and services that promote student success, personal development, and holistic engagement of students. The Sr. Director fosters a vibrant campus culture and advances initiatives that strengthen student retention, persistence, and completion. A major focus of the Sr.
Director is to develop, implement, and manage activities, programs, and services related to student organizations, student leadership opportunities and other campus activities. Develop and execute short and long‑term plans, goals and objectives for programs to ensure alignment with university goals. Monitor and report on participation and satisfaction and recommend improvements. Develops, implements, and authorizes the expenditures of department and fee‑funded group budgets.
Oversees activities and budgets of student fee‑funded student organizations. Oversee staff, student employees, and volunteers. Oversee safety and compliance with university risk management standards for related events.
- Responsible for providing decision‑making and leadership over a comprehensive Student Life area and supervises the Administrative Assistant.

- Major campus wide programs & traditions
- Develop annual budgets consisting of state funding, student activity fees and departmental revenue.
- Oversee the hiring, training, supervision and evaluation in all areas of Student Life.
- Responsible for the coordination of major campus wide programs (i.e., Stampede Week, Winter Glow, Homecoming, etc.).
- Responsible for the promotion, management, and implementation of innovative and comprehensive programs that contribute to student engagement and community engagement.
- Directs and coordinates staff in the development of departmental strategic plans, goals and objectives in alignment with university priorities.
- Encourages collaborative programs and activities within the Division of Enrollment and Student Success, between divisions and with the metropolitan community to ensure effective communication, partnerships and positive working relationships.
- Some evenings and weekend duties are required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in a related field and extensive work experience that provides expert knowledge of fundamental theories, principles and concepts of collegiate student affairs.
- Record of successful and innovative experience in college leadership and administration.
- 5+ years of experience in the field with leading planning, including program development and innovation, program prioritization, and assessment.
- Must provide leadership and fiscal management.
- Appropriate profession accomplishments and credentials.
- Terminal degree in student affairs or related field.
