General SchedulePosition typically works Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm in-office at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Rate of $16.74 per hour is equivalent to $34,819.20 per year.
Position OverviewThe primary job duties are the admission of international students, immigration advising of new international students, and establishment of systems and processes to improve office workflow. This position reviews and evaluates academic credentials, financial resources, and English language proficiency of prospective students from other countries to determine eligibility for admission into the University and the acceptability of documentation for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Form I-20 and U.S. Department of State Form DS-2019.
Evaluates courses taken at international institutions for transfer credit by locating resources to assist in the evaluation, advises international students and applicants about admission and U.S. immigration laws and regulations, monitors international student status, and evaluates actions to be taken when an international student's status changes. Assist with the designs and development of systems and processes to improve office workflow and automate routine administrative process, enhancing the ability of staff to accomplish the purpose and mission of the department.
- Evaluate academic credentials and financial documentation for accuracy.
- Issue immigration documents for prospective international students and scholars while staying informed on immigration matters and sharing updates with the team.
- Advise new international students on all aspects of international admissions and serve as the Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 student visas and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J-1 visitor and exchange faculty and scholar programs.
- Provide guidance to prospective and current students on degree options and offerings at UCO.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in job related field or 4+ years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must have a valid driver's license, clean driving record, and be able to operate a typical motor vehicle.
A Designated School Official (DSO) must be either a citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States.
Qualifications/Experience PreferredIt is preferred that applicants have at least 1 year of experience in admissions or a related field in higher education, including some experience in international student recruitment, admission, and/or services. Some knowledge of SEVIS and Banner systems are preferred.
