General Schedule This position typically works 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday at UCO's main campus in Edmond, Oklahoma. Some evenings and weekend work may be required.
Position OverviewBroncho Bridge Advisors serve as a resource for new students, helping them navigate the college experience. They provide guidance, support and resources to students in and out of the classroom with an emphasis on academic goals, course load, study habits, time management, choice of curriculum, and course scheduling. Collect and maintain data to track cohort success and provide reports based upon data.
Collaboratively develop and implement workshops and activities designed to support college student persistence, growth, success, and retention.
Academic Advisement and Retention Support – 55%
- Serve in an academic advisement role
- Advise students on best practices regarding study skills, note-taking, assignment/project management, and time management
- Work with students to create personalized success plans
- Meet regularly with students individually and in groups to advise and provide support for academic success
- Create research-based materials to support student academic success and retention
- Irregular schedule with occasional nights and/or weekend events
Data Collection and Tracking – 20%
- Track students’ academic progress and persistence
- Collect data through a variety of methods
- Work with applications including Microsoft Power BI;
Microsoft Excel, and similar products to offer data visualization to stakeholders
Program Development and Implementation – 20%
- Create, develop, and implement workshops and activities to support student retention and persistence
Other duties as necessary and assigned – 5%
Qualifications / Experience Required- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with program development and innovation, program prioritization, and assessment
- Appropriate professional accomplishments and credentials
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Ability to work with different personality types and competing agendas
- Ability to work independently; must be self-motivated and a self-starter
- Demonstrated research and analytical skills with data and metrics
- Experience with Power BI, Excel, and/or similar applications
- Excellent human relations skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with all student communities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to handle sensitive matters with judgment, tact, and diplomacy
- High level of cultural competence
- Master’s degree in higher education, with an emphasis on student personnel/student affairs, or related subject
- 2+ years of experience working with students
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating student programs
- Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams, task forces, or committees
- Understanding of contemporary issues in higher education
