Job SummaryThe Community Resource Development Extension Educator serves as a critical link between Langston University Sherman Lewis School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (LU SL/SAAS) and the residents of Oklahoma. This position develops and delivers innovative, research-based educational programs that address local needs and strengthen the economic, social, and environmental well-being of communities.
The educator collaborates with county, state, and tribal agencies; partner organizations; businesses; schools; and community leaders to assess needs, design programming, and build capacity across the region. Through these efforts, the educator contributes to improving the quality of life for both current and future residents.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Program Development & Delivery
- Provide leadership in the design, implementation, and evaluation of a vibrant, sustainable community development program tailored to local priorities.
- Facilitate workshops, trainings, demonstrations, and applied research outreach for diverse audiences.

- Planning, visioning, and strategic community initiatives
- Leadership development and civic engagement
- Community and public policy engagement
- Farm business and farm management
- Livestock systems, cropping systems, and horticulture
- Agricultural economics and agribusiness support
- Natural resource conservation and environmental stewardship
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with community partners, organizations, and stakeholders.
- Maintain consistent and effective communication with colleagues in the LU-SL/SAAS.
- Participate in activities that expand the reach, visibility, and impact of Extension programming.
- Support community-led initiatives through consultation, capacity-building, and technical assistance.
- Conduct ongoing needs assessments to ensure programming remains responsive and relevant.
- Develop plans of work, proposals, reports, and impact summaries.
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business, Agriculture Education, Community Development, Natural Resources, or a related field.(degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
- Experience in farm management, livestock production, horticulture, agriculture, or community-based educational programming.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Knowledge and skill in using computer technology for reporting, presentations, data management, and communication.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to teach and effectively deliver educational content.
- Strong teamwork, facilitation, and group process skills.
- Flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving skills in a dynamic work environment.
