Position OverviewTeaches, advises, and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works collaboratively with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university faculty meetings and serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as needed. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly or creative activities as outlined in the tenure and promotion policy of the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.
This is a full-time, tenure-track position.
The College of Mathematics and Science has 128 full-time and over 70 part-time faculty across five academic departments, the School of Engineering, and the School of Nursing. It serves more than 3,300 undergraduates in 30 majors and offers graduate programs in Biology, Computer Science, Data Science, Cybersecurity, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, Applied Mathematical Science, Engineering, Computational Science, and Nursing. Accreditation is held by ABET, CCNE, the American Board of Funeral Service Education, and the American Chemical Society.

Responsibilities include didactic, simulation, and clinical teaching of undergraduate and graduate nursing courses. Additional duties encompass scholarly and creative activities, and service to the department, college, university, and profession. The role involves active participation in research and evidence-based practice, including publishing in refereed journals, presenting at national and international conferences (with students), and supporting faculty in publication efforts. The position also involves developing and implementing evidence-based projects, formulating conference presentations, and managing grant proposals, especially related to the Curley Endowed Chair for Nursing Research.
Service includes curriculum development and assessment, as well as innovating programs to enhance nursing research for faculty and students.
Potential instruction areas include Research and Evidence-Based Practice and courses within the graduate program. The candidate must be willing to teach in various formats (face-to-face, hybrid, online) as needed.
Qualifications/Experience RequiredDoctoral degree from a regionally accredited or recognized institution in the specified field (exceptions require approval). Masters or Doctorate in Nursing. Current Oklahoma RN License, CPR certification, vaccination, and tuberculosis testing are required. A drug screening will be conducted prior to clinical duties. At least two years of clinical nursing experience is necessary.
Qualifications/Experience PreferredExperience in nursing education and clinical student evaluation is preferred. Candidates should have an established research area and recent publications in refereed journals.
Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesAbility to collaborate effectively with faculty and staff. Reports to the Director of the School of Nursing and the Dean of the College.
