Job Summary
:
The high school principal serves as the key educational, spiritual, and culture leader in the high school. The high school principal will shape the day-to-day implementation of the OCS mission, vision, core values, and strategic plan in the high school. The high school principal also plays a key role on the administrative leadership team, collaborating on overall operations and long-term strategic initiatives for the overall accomplishment of the OCS mission.

The high school principal reports directly to and is evaluated by the headmaster.

Education

  • Masters degree Educational Administration or related field

  • Minimum of five years classroom teaching experience

Experience

  • Minimum of three years experience as a middle or high school principal

  • ACSI Administrative Certificate or state administrative credential

  • Experience designing, implementing, and supervising curriculum and instruction

  • Strong management and leadership skills

  • Knowledge of current educational best practices

Essential Job Functions

Spiritual and Cultural Leadership
  • Serve as the spiritual leader of the high school, acting as a Gospel minister

  • Develop a Christ-centered culture that is friendly, welcoming, and emotionally safe

  • Develop and maintain positive rapport with students, serving as a relational role model (Romans 12:10)

  • Develop and foster trust-based, collegial relationship with faculty/staff

  • Assist teachers in integrating a biblical worldview into curriculum and instruction

  • Proactively develop trust-based relationships with parent

  • Model victorious Christian living to students and families (Philippians 2:1-5)

  • Communicate in word and deed the gospel message to students (Romans 10:14-15)

  • Periodically speak in Chapel

  • Lead staff devotions

  • Model and help students to resolve conflict in a biblical manner (Matthew 18:15-17)

  • Pray for students, parents, staff and entire OCS community (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

  • Work with faculty and staff to address the spiritual formation needs of the students (Galatians 4:19)

  • Work with the spiritual formation director to design an effective chapel program

  • Promote the active involvement of faculty and staff in all aspects of the school

  • Participate when able in school mission trip

  • Implement positive strategies to develop Christian character in high school faculty, staff, and students

Academic Leadership
  • Maintain an academic environment that is academically challenging, meeting the needs of diverse learners

  • Provide oversight of high school curriculum and instruction

  • Provide oversight of the high school academic support program

  • Oversee the relationships with colleges and universities providing dual-credit courses

  • Evaluate faculty instructional practices

  • Provide training and coaching of faculty in pedagogical best practices

  • Understand and promote the integration of a biblical worldview in all aspects of curriculum and instruction

  • Formally/informally monitor academic achievement through data collection and analysis

  • Maintain current and accurate curriculum documents

  • Oversee and direct adoption and purchase of new curricular materials and textbooks that align with a biblical worldview and the OCS mission
