The hourly rate is $21.63 which translates to $45,000.00 per year.

General

Schedule:

40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Position Type:

Performs complex library services and operations that require specialized knowledge of a subject, language, or discipline. Assists library patrons with research and complex and technical assignments and requests; searches computer databases, catalog files, and shelves to locate information. Processes and conducts complex bibliographic searching and verification and monitors and analyzes changes in bibliographic records for online systems and software. Performs reference management activities and creates and edits complex bibliographic records in all formats.

Administrates library programs, prepares invoices, and codes library materials.

Position Level:

Individual Contributor 2 - Intermediate level professional position, with actions that may have a significant impact on operations. Maintains a working knowledge of policies and procedures. Resolves day to day operational issues by collecting and interpreting information. May provide input into budget development. Primarily responsible for applying organizational policies and procedures and/or determining appropriate process to follow. Generally, reports to manager or higher.

May supervise student employees or equivalent.

Position Overview and

Job Duties
  • Provides specialized, in-depth services to Library patrons by responding to inquiries and providing requested library information resources utilizing a variety of electronic and print resources.
  • Works collaboratively within the department to determine appropriate approaches to preparing collections for use.
  • Processes manuscript collections utilizing established standards and best practices.
  • Performs research and records the origin and historical significance of unique collections and archival materials seeking information from various sources with a critical eye.
  • Assists in the development of Special Collections & University Archives policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Assists with inventory control and development of finding aids within the library’s archival content management system, Archiv Era.
  • Assists with historical research and media inquiries from patrons and staff.
  • Works Reading Room desk shifts and provides front‑line assistance for students, faculty, staff, and other patrons.
  • May serve as a Special Collections & University representative to the appropriate library working groups, such as Digital Initiatives or Collection Development.
  • May shadow the Coordinator of Special Collections & University Archives in their day‑to‑day responsibilities.
  • May serve on library, university, or professional committees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience Required

Bachelor’s degree in job related field plus 4+ years of work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred
  • Experience with processing manuscript collections.
  • A recent graduate or near graduate in an ALA accredited Library Information Studies or archives program.
  • Experience with processing manuscript collections.
  • Experience working in academic libraries.
  • Working knowledge of archival content management system(s).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of Windows‑based computer applications and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of library information systems and electronic databases. The ability to present complex information clearly.
