Job DescriptionThe Registered Nurse functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population in order to achieve desired outcomes. This position focuses on expanding knowledge and skills, provides effective direct care as part of the interdisciplinary team to a variety of complex patients. This position directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination. This position effectively coordinates patient care/unit activities among nursing peers, physicians and support services.
Responsibilities- A Registered Nurse at Hackensack Meridian Health delivers nursing practices according to up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care to provide safe and excellent individualized patient care.
- Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation: collects data, develops plans of care, communicates and implements plans, and evaluates progress.
- Performs age and disease-specific assessment/data collection, identifies education needs based on age, disease, and learning differences.
- Develops and coordinates a care plan that is patient/family focused and encompasses the continuum of care.
- Communicates, coordinates, and implements the plan of care; provides ongoing communication with patient/family and health care team.
- Provides patient/family education as needed and ensures understanding; documents events and adheres to protocols.
- Manages medications with current safety practices and participates in multi-disciplinary discharge planning.
- Maintains continuous electronic documentation of assessments, plan of care, interventions and evaluation.
- Education:
minimum of an associate degree in Nursing or nursing diploma. - Licenses/Certifications:
current and valid Registered Nurse license; BLS/CPR certification required within 60 days of hire. - Experience:
six (6) or more months of relevant nursing experience OR active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health's Nurse Residency Program. - Education/Certification pathways: BSN in progress and/or willingness to acquire within three (3) years of hire; BSN within five years of hire as per policy for certain roles.
- Preferred:
National Certification in area of specialty when eligible.
- Identify ethical issues and bring to the attention of the team.
- Enhance patient satisfaction where possible.
- Maintain competencies, certifications and continuing education to meet licensing/accreditation requirements.
- Adhere to relevant professional and organizational standards and competencies.
- Lift, push/pull and stand requirements as specified by role.
Minimum rate of $45.73 hourly. The posted rate is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay and may not reflect the full value of the total rewards package.
