ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population to achieve desired outcomes. This position directs and oversees the care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination. This role coordinates patient care and unit activities among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.
- Delivery of nursing practices according to the most up-to-date evidence-based research, nursing policies, and standards of care to provide safe and individualized patient care.
- Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation:
- Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient''s health or the situation; performs age- and disease-specific assessment/data collection; recognizes clinical status changes; identifies education needs based on age, disease, and cultural differences.
- Develops an interdisciplinary care plan with patient/family-centered goals and outcomes; coordinates the plan of care across the continuum.
- Communicates, coordinates, and implements the plan of care; provides ongoing communication with patient/family, nursing colleagues, and other team members; administers age- and disease-specific care in an organized and timely manner.
- Provides or coordinates patient/family education and ensures understanding; documents events and assessments; adheres to protocols and demonstrates evidence-based practice.
- Performs continuous documentation of patient assessments, plan of care, interventions, and evaluation in the electronic health record; utilizes safe medication administration practices with available technology; coordinates multidisciplinary discharge planning for safe transition of care.
Education,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Associate degree in Nursing or nursing diploma; BSN in progress and/or willing to obtain within three years of hire (per policy notes in the posting).
- Six months or more of relevant nursing experience OR active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health''s Nurse Residency Program.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changing patient needs, strong accountability, teamwork, ongoing education, and high-quality patient care emphasis.
Education,
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
- National Certification in area of specialty preferred when eligible.
Licenses and Certifications
Required:
- Current and valid Registered Nurse license for the location by date of hire.
- BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
Minimum rate of $45.73 hourly. The posted rate is a base pay estimate and may vary with market data, experience, education, certifications, location, and other factors. Includes information about pay transparency and total rewards.
