Responsibilities
  • Manages the facility’s mandatory in‑services, including:
    • Plans, organizes, and directs in‑service meetings ensuring staff participation to promote professional growth for all nursing staff.
    • Maintains and updates in‑service content to reflect current evidence‑based practices.
    • Assists in the evaluation of staff competency.
    • Develops, implements, and maintains an effective orientation program that acquaints new employees with facility policies, procedures, and duties.
    • Monitors staff performance to ensure compliance with established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies.
    • Maintains accurate compliance records and in‑service hours of staff participation.
  • Counsels employees, provides support, and fosters professional growth by assessing individual and collective learning needs and providing appropriate education.
  • Assists supervisors and charge nurses as necessary; acts as a resource person and role model for clinical staff.
  • Educates staff regarding safety procedures for documenting reports and all accompanying paperwork; assists in the investigation of safety reports.
  • Participates in interviewing and hiring processes for staff.
  • Determines solutions to problems, implements infection control measures, and follows up to prevent further issues.
  • Provides education on infection control measures to all levels of employees and medical staff.
  • Communicates with Infection Control Director, Director of Nursing (DON), Senior VP Clinical Services, and Infection Control Medical Director to seek approval and advice when warranted.
  • Tailors educational approaches to specific audiences to maximize attentiveness and participation.
  • Meets regularly with the Director of Nursing to discuss plans and priorities for infection control activities.
  • Assists in presenting infection control reports (e.g., MRSA, VRE,

    C. difficile) and evaluates related data for surveillance and trend identification.
  • Assesses patient care delivery throughout the facility and determines compliance with infection control policies and procedures as outlined in the infection control plan.
  • Serves as a consultant to nursing and other departments on the care of patients at risk or susceptible to infection.
  • Ensures nursing staff are familiar with state, federal, and local laws and regulations.
  • Observes regulatory compliance, including mandatory reporting regulations; maintains and updates policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Participates in facility surveys and inspections.
  • Reports communicable and unusual diseases of epidemiological significance to appropriate local or state health departments.
  • Assists in reviewing environmental aspects of infection control in accordance with New Jersey State Department of Health Standards.
Qualifications
  • BSN or currently enrolled in a BSN program
  • Minimum of 5 years recent clinical experience
  • CPA or CFA educational credential
  • New Jersey State Professional Registered Nurse license
  • Certificate for OASIS Specialist – Clinical (preferred)
Compensation

Starting at $90,750.40 annually. The posted rate of pay is a reasonable good faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role at the time of posting in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Act.
