. This part-time position provides comprehensive direct patient care while elevating your nursing expertise.

Description

The Registered Nurse functions as a caregiver for a specific patient population, working as part of an interdisciplinary team to deliver complex patient care. The role directs and oversees care provided by other caregivers through delegation, validation, evaluation, and coordination. The RN effectively coordinates unit activities among nursing peers, physicians, and support services.

Responsibilities

Deliver nursing practices based on evidence‑based research, policies, and standards of care, ensuring safe, individualized patient care.

A Day in the Life
  • Assessment
    • Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health.
    • Perform age and disease‑specific assessment independently.
    • Recognize clinical and diagnostic status changes.
    • Identify educational needs based on age, disease, and cultural differences.
  • Plan
    • Develop a care plan and prescribe strategies to attain expected outcomes.
    • Formulate patient/family‑centered goals based on assessment data.
    • Coordinate a patient‐focused, prioritized plan covering the continuum of care.
  • Implementation
    • Communicate and implement the plan of care.
    • Maintain ongoing communication with patient/family and healthcare team.
    • Provide age and disease‑specific care promptly.
    • Coordinate patient/family education and ensure understanding.
    • Adhere to established protocols, document events, and deliver evidence‑based nursing practice.
    • Document assessments, plans, interventions, and evaluations point‑of‑care.
    • Perform medication administration using bar‑scanning technology.
    • Support multidisciplinary discharge planning for safe transitions.
  • Evaluation
    • Evaluate progress toward outcomes and use critical thinking skills.
    • Initiate interventions related to changes in condition and unexpected responses to care.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Identify ethical issues and bring them to the attention of team members.
  • Recognize and respond to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education.
  • Adhere to the American Nurses Association Code and HMH's competencies.
  • Lifting: minimum 35 lbs., pushing/pulling 10 lbs., and standing a minimum of 6 hours per day.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in Nursing or Nursing diploma; BSN in progress or completed within three years of hire; or a nursing degree from an advanced program that satisfies BSN requirements.
  • At least six months of relevant nursing experience or active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health’s Nurse Residency Program.
  • Strong learning agility, accountability, teamwork, commitment to ongoing education, and a passion for high‑quality patient care.
Preferred Education and Certifications
  • National certification in area of specialty, when eligible.
Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Current and valid Registered Nurse license for the assigned HMH location by date of hire.
  • Basic Life Support/CPR certification by the American Heart Association within 60 days of hire.
Compensation

The posted hourly rate is an estimate of the minimum base pay. Final compensation may vary based on market data, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and budget considerations. Eligible candidates may also receive performance‑based incentives, shift differentials, and a comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, retirement). Minimum hourly rate: $45.14.
