Our Information Technology team aims to achieve one version of the truth empowering Retail Associates, Members and Wakefern with access to information anywhere, anytime to enable data driven decisions.

We are seeking a COBOL Developer to support and enhance mainframe applications in the merchandise and finance domains. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and SQL, along with solid software development and production support skills.

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science or related field
  • Proven experience in software development, requirements analysis, and relational database design
  • Strong mainframe programming skills: COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, and SQL
  • Experience supporting finance and merchandise systems in a retail or enterprise environment
  • Java experience is a plus, especially in hybrid or integration scenarios
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable code and follow structured programming principles
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to recommend and implement effective solutions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with cross‑functional teams
  • Self‑motivated with a strong ability to learn and adapt quickly
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit and work in front of a computer monitor for extended periods of time
  • Communicate with colleagues, clients, and/or partners by phone, e‑mail, web conference, and in person
  • Willingness to support demanding testing time frames, and other time‑sensitive work, during off‑hours and on weekends based on project demands
  • 4 days in‑office | 1 day remote
