Project Accounting Manager

A growing, multi-state professional services organization is seeking a Director of Project Accounting to oversee financial operations across multiple regional offices. This leadership role requires a seasoned project accounting professional with at least 8 years of experience in complex, project-based environments and a proven ability to operate independently while building strong internal partnerships. Limited monthly travel (approximately 3–5 days) to a southeastern office location will be required.

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to Project Accounting Managers and Project Accountants across multiple offices, driving consistency, accountability, and performance standards.
• Oversee preparation and review of periodic project forecasts, cost reports, and financial performance analyses to support executive decision-making.
• Lead regional cash flow planning efforts, including projections related to billings, costs incurred, and percentage‑of‑completion reporting.
• Ensure project budgets are properly established in accounting systems and that any updates, revisions, or scope changes are accurately reflected and communicated to project teams.
• Monitor client invoicing processes to ensure timely, accurate submissions with complete supporting documentation.
• Oversee the financial administration of change events, including pricing validation, cost capture, and proper billing execution.
• Direct accounts receivable strategy reviews, proactively addressing aging balances and resolving collection challenges.
• Ensure subcontractor and vendor compliance documentation is complete and approved prior to payment release.
• Validate that all project‑related transactions are recorded in the appropriate accounting period and that accruals are properly managed to support accurate month‑end reporting.
