Data Science Manager
This is a senior role within a well-established financial services environment where risk, capital and regulatory reporting sit at the heart of decision‑making. You’ll play a key part in shaping impairment and capital strategy, turning complex data into insight that influences real business outcomes.
Role Overview- Location: Edinburgh (Hybrid – 3 days onsite)
- Leading forecasting and stress testing activity to support internal planning and regulatory submissions
- Ensuring impairment adequacy across planning and stress scenarios, with strong governance and control
- Driving initiatives to optimise capital and impairment performance across portfolios
- Analysing complex risk data to identify drivers of impairment and Risk‑Weighted Assets
- Translating business questions into structured, data‑led investigations and clear recommendations
- Producing short‑term forecasts and tracking performance against actuals to enhance decision‑making
- Presenting insights to senior stakeholders, tailoring messaging for both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Supporting integration and collaboration across wider risk measurement teams
- Managing multiple priorities and delivering high‑quality outputs within agreed timelines
- Strong experience in stress testing and RWA calculations
- Solid understanding of impairment and capital frameworks within a regulated banking environment
- Advanced analytical capability, including problem structuring and hypothesis‑driven analysis
- Hands‑on experience with data tools such as SAS, SQL, Python or similar
- Confident communicator with experience influencing senior stakeholders
- Ability to manage projects and prioritise effectively across competing demands
