Software Engineering Manager

We are partnered with a large‑scale, product‑led technology organisation operating in a fast‑paced consumer market. Their engineering teams build and maintain complex, high‑traffic platforms that serve millions of users, requiring modern architectures, distributed systems expertise, and a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and user experience.

The successful candidate will take responsibility for leading a multidisciplinary engineering team and owning delivery across the full software development lifecycle. This includes:

• Defining team strategy and priorities
• Guiding architectural direction
• Conduct code reviews & remain close to hands‑on development work
• Mentor engineers & support / plan their career development, 1 to 1s & performance reviews
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement
• Balance immediate delivery needs with long‑term technical strategy
• Collaborate closely with product partners, senior engineers, and stakeholders to influence technical decision‑making

• Must have managerial experience with responsibility for career development & performance review of direct reports.
• Vital that this person has been a software engineer & still able to do code if required. Managers will likely be rustier programmers than when they were ICs but this will still be a “hands‑on” role & some coding capability is expected.
• Comfortable setting team goals, driving delivery excellence, and balancing technical debt with product velocity.
• A people‑first leader, with growth mindset, who creates an inclusive, psychologically safe team environment and supports growth through coaching and mentorship.
• Must have experience
• Strong AWS & Dev Ops background is beneficial
• History of working with large high‑traffic, high‑availability distributed systems

• Must have strong experience in one of Java, Python, or React. (Openings on both back & front end)
