Junior Technical Audio Designer (UK-based 12 month Fixed Term Contract)
Climax is one of the leading creative lights of independent games development with an outstanding line of top published titles. It truly is an exciting and inspiring place to work in the heart of Edinburgh, overlooking the beautiful castle.
We are looking for a Junior Technical Audio Designer to join our award-winning development team on a AAA remaster/port project. The project consists of migrating existing audio data to Unreal Engine 5, assisted by the programming team, and overseeing the porting of existing modding tools to work with Unreal Engine. The work will require an attentive ear to ensure the mix and presentation of the game remains consistent.
Additionally, strong skills in Unreal Engine will be required to utilise its unique features and find opportunities to improve on the original title's audio.
There are multiple ways to succeed on this project and we welcome applications from Audio Designers and Technical Audio Designers. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering a modern, faithful, and performant migration of audio for multiple platforms, including consoles and handhelds. You will oversee the programmers assigned to the migration tooling and ensure the converted data is up to standard and follows the best practices for Unreal Engine audio.
You will be responsible for ensuring the game's modding tools provide good usability for users. You will be responsible for solving edge cases that tooling is unable to solve, potentially writing or modifying Blueprints.
You will be supported by an Audio Lead who will provide guidance and support. On top of this, Climax's wider audio team will be available for support and advice.
