Physicians Associate; Egpp

Overview

The function of the Physician Associate (PA) is to provide high quality, safe and effective clinical and emergency patient care in conjunction with other members of the clinical team. The post will be based in the Haematology services at Western General Hospital and St Johns Hospital and primarily based in the day wards. The post holder will be part of a wider clinical team available to meet the needs of the service.

Working with an experienced PA the post holder will undertake clinical reviews of patients attending the Haematology day wards at SJH and WGH and perform procedures including bone marrow biopsy after suitable training.

• Under the indirect supervision of a named physician, as part of a multi-disciplinary team, undertake physical assessments and history taking.
• Provide immediate care and initiate treatment as per clinical pathways/protocols.
• Create treatment plans as required and perform procedures including bone marrow biopsy.

This post requires PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.

If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
