Here’s 5 reasons you’ll love to volunteer in our shops:

  • It’s fun
  • It’s flexible
  • You’ll learn and share skills
  • You’ll be making a difference
  • You’ll work with a great team

We’re passionate about what we do, and love giving second‑hand clothing a chance of going to a good home. Our shop teams are key to raising vital funds for our work and act as advocates for children’s rights in the UK and around the world.

Please note that this is a voluntary, unpaid role based in the UK. We are unfortunately not able to provide support with visa requests.

Volunteer in the shop

Our Nicolson Street shop is a modern, contemporary urban street store, full of vintage treasures, greenery and creativity. As a shop volunteer you may be sorting and pricing stock, engaging with customers, ringing items through the till, creating window displays or keeping the shop floor organised.

It’s up to you how much you commit. Volunteers may support for a couple of hours a week or more. We’ll discuss your commitment at the selection stage.

Why volunteer with Save the Children?

In over 110 countries, we support children to transform their lives. Through short‑term help and social change, we give children the right to learn, to eat well, and to receive medicine when needed.

Skills and experience we seek

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experience. Retail or shop experience is not required; training will be provided. Key qualities include: team player, open to learning, compliance with our policies, and excellent representation of Save the Children.

Our shop teams are stronger when inclusive and representative of their communities. Everyone can make a real difference.

What happens next?

After completing an application, we invite you for an informal trial shift. This allows you to visit the shop, meet volunteers, and try tasks. We also ask for two references from people who know you for at least six months and are not relatives.

How to apply

Express your interest by emailing the apply button.

Please note again: this is a voluntary, unpaid role based in the UK and we cannot support visa requests.
