Salary Scale: £44,291.31 – £46,223.21 per annum
Hours:
39 hours per week
Contract:
1 Permanent post and 1 12-month Fixed Term post
Location:
Edinburgh and The Lothians (services-based, with travel required)
As Development Manager (Registered Manager), you will:
- Hold Registered Manager responsibility for Housing Support and Care at Home services
- Provide professional leadership and line management to support service leaders
- Ensure services meet regulatory and legislative requirements
- Take a creative and responsive approach to the delivery of housing support and care at home services
- Promote and embed values-based approaches to service delivery
- Support the growth and development of The Action Group’s services, contributing to the ongoing delivery of the organisation’s Vision and Mission
SSSC registration (or eligibility), management experience within Housing Support and/or Care at Home services, and strong knowledge of Scottish social care legislation.
Required Criteria- Registered (or eligible to register) with the SSSC as a Manager
- Relevant management qualification (e.g., SVQ 4 Social Services & Healthcare) or equivalent
- Significant experience in a regulated Scottish social care setting
- Proven experience of managing or leading a social care service or team
- Experience working with the Care Inspectorate, including inspections and action plans
- Experience of safeguarding adults and managing risk
- Strong understanding of Scottish social care legislation and policy
- In‑depth knowledge of the Health & Social Care Standards
- Understanding of person‑centred, outcomes‑focused practice
- Knowledge of workforce management, supervision, and performance processes
- Strong leadership and decision‑making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage change, challenge poor practice, and drive improvement
- Ability to balance quality of care with operational and financial responsibilities
- Competent in report writing, audits, and data analysis
- Commitment to dignity, respect, equality, and human rights
- Compassionate, reflective, and values‑driven leadership style
- Satisfactory PVG membership
- Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs
- Experience managing services rated Good or above by the Care Inspectorate
- Experience of supporting people with complex needs
- Experience of budget management and commissioning arrangements
- Knowledge of trauma‑informed and strengths‑based approaches
- Experience leading Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or restrictive practice governance
- Experience in strategic service development and improvement initiatives
