We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Caretaker/Janitor to join our Edinburgh school’s account in Gracemount High School, 136 Lasswade Rd, Edinburgh EH16 6TZ
. £13.49 per hour. The standard hours of work are 40 hours per week (Shift patterns: 6am‑2pm, 8am‑4pm and 2pm‑10pm – plus 12.5% shift allowance). We work in partnership with our clients and end-users to ensure our 24/7 services are delivered to the highest standard with minimum impact or disruption to day‑to‑day operational requirements of the schools.
- Ensure smooth running of the school premises
- Carry out day‑to‑day DIY/maintenance and minor repairs (e.g., furniture fixtures, wall repairs)
- Ensure heating, lighting and alarm systems are working properly
- Check that all doors and windows are locked when the building is not in use
- Guard against vandalism
- Arrange chairs and tables for meetings or assemblies and clear away afterwards
- Litter pick and general clear external areas
- Knowledge and previous experience in practical DIY skills for minor repair
- Good team player
- Flexible with shift work
- Good at developing strong working relationships with on‑site client and employees
- Support both local and business zero‑carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner when appropriate
- Responsible for ensuring H&S standards are achieved across the contract
