Are you a pharmacy technician ready to take the next step in your career by joining a dynamic and pro‑active clinical technical team?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated pharmacy technician to join the clinical pharmacy technical team at Royal Edinburgh Hospital. The post holder will work with the pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams in patient‑facing roles across the in‑patient setting, supporting the completion of medication histories, medicines management, and providing patient counselling.
AboutThe Role
We are looking for a pharmacy technician who is detail‑oriented and passionate about improving patient outcomes through safe and effective medicines use. The post will be based within the Royal Edinburgh Hospital and involves working closely with both pharmacy and multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe, timely, and effective use of medicines.
- Taking comprehensive medication histories upon patient admission
- Supporting medicines management
- Providing counselling to patients to promote understanding and adherence to their medication regimens
- Working independently at times and liaising with the wider pharmacy team to ensure patient care

- Registered Pharmacy Technicians with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), or
- Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician (PTPT) looking to register as a pharmacy technician by January 2026
- Possession of a National Certificate in Pharmacy Services and Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) Level 3 in Pharmacy Services, or equivalent
- A strong commitment to improving patient care through proactive, evidence‑based pharmaceutical services
