Higher Enforcement Officer (Visitor Levy Team)

Fixed term until 30/04/2027

Salary: £40,501 - £47,639

Hours:

36 per week

As we approach the implementation of Edinburgh's Visitor Levy, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Trading Standards and Enforcement service. We have 4 positions available.

The Trading Standards and Enforcement service area is responsible for enforcement of a diverse range of regulatory activity, including the responsibility for enforcement of the new Edinburgh Visitor Levy. This is an opportunity for the right candidates to get involved at an early stage in new regulatory activity, which will be high profile and the first of its kind in Scotland.

Responsibilities
  • Enforce activity for Edinburgh's Visitor Levy.
  • Work closely with Edinburgh's accommodation providers, ensuring legal compliance, protecting consumers, and supporting businesses with the new regulatory regime through inspections, investigations and appropriate advice.
Criteria & Experience
  • Previous experience of enforcement or ensuring compliance with legislation, including providing advice or guidance is essential.
  • Any other relevant regulatory experience relating to consumer protection or financial regulation would be advantageous.

  • Keeping up-to-date with relevant legislation, case law and guidance.
  • Contributing and developing best practice within this new regulatory regime.

The salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
