About this opportunity

At Lloyds Banking Group, we have a clear purpose: helping Britain prosper. Within Group Finance, Central Finance – Control & Reporting (CF–C&R) plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and governance of the Group’s financial reporting.

You’ll be joining the Account Ownership & Control (AOC) function within CF–C&R — a key component of the Group’s Financial Control Framework. Our team leads on balance sheet ownership, substantiation, ARCS governance, Transformation, unowned balance resolution, and month end oversight, ensuring high quality financial data and effective control standards across Commercial Banking and Group Finance.

What you’ll be doing Lead & oversee AOC and ARCS control activity
  • Manage the AOC framework for your portfolios, making sure ownership is clear and any issues or disputed balances are resolved.
  • Oversee ARCS profile governance so profiles are set up correctly, owned, and substantiated in line with policy.
  • Support teams with break investigations, root cause analysis and high‑quality commentary for ARCS submissions.
Month end control & substantiation
  • Coordinate month end AOC activity, ensuring deadlines are met and raising issues early.
  • Help resolve ledger mismatches and unexplained differences, including Fusion discrepancies, reserve queries and balance sheet alignment.
  • Act as the first point of escalation for operational issues and work with Platform teams to drive solutions.
Stakeholder reporting & engagement
  • Create AOC packs and dashboards that give clear insights for governance forums such as FCFR and Month End debriefs.
  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with CF–C&R teams, Finance Platform and wider Group teams to resolve cross‑boundary issues.
  • Lead conversations to agree ownership of new or disputed balances, using clear reasoning and evidence.
Continuous improvement & automation
  • Review processes regularly, challenge inefficiencies and suggest practical improvements.
  • Spot opportunities to automate (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query) to improve MI and reduce manual work.
  • Lead or support transformation projects such as Strategic Ledger, ownership redesign or data quality improvements.
Leadership & team development
  • Lead, coach and develop the AOC team.
  • Support colleagues across AOC and CF–C&R to build capability in substantiation, ARCS and AOC governance.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, challenge and continuous learning.
What we’re looking for
  • Qualified accountant, or equivalent experience, minimum of 3 years, with a strong understanding of financial control, substantiation and reporting.
  • Experience working with balance sheet control frameworks, substantiation tools (ARCS), and ledger systems; familiarity with Fusion/Oracle architecture advantageous.
  • Proven ability to understand complex balance‑sheet issues and communicate them clearly to senior colleagues.
  • Strong stakeholder management, able to influence across Finance, challenge constructively and drive issue resolution quickly.
  • Ability to plan effectively, manage competing priorities and deliver to tight month‑end timelines.
  • A continuous improvement approach and enthusiasm for modernising processes, including automation and data driven insights.
  • Effective leadership, coaching abilities and a collaborative, inclusive working style.
And any of these would be great
  • Prior Line Management experience.
  • Experience using Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM).
  • Experience using Power suite tools e.g. Power BI.
  • Experience in Financial Services.
