Finance Manager

A technology-led, UK-based professional services firm supporting high-growth businesses is looking to hire a Finance Manager to join its remote team.

This is not a traditional practice role. The firm is built around automation, modern systems and commercial thinking, working with VC-backed and scaling clients who need more than compliance. The focus is on ownership, quality and client impact, not volume processing.

You’ll manage a defined portfolio of clients day-to-day, acting as the primary delivery lead while working alongside a senior director who retains overall client oversight.

You’ll take responsibility for delivery, quality and client relationships across your portfolio.

Key areas include:

• Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts, corporation tax returns and management reports.
• Reviewing and approving VAT returns (escalating complex matters where required).
• Owning client communication and acting as a trusted point of contact.
• Reviewing bookkeeping work and reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Completing hands‑on accounting work where needed to maintain quality and deadlines.
• Monitoring scope, recoveries and time, escalating where appropriate.
• Supporting clients with systems, controls and process improvements.
• Championing automation and technology to improve efficiency and scalability.
• Tracking KPIs and portfolio performance.
• Identifying additional service opportunities where appropriate.

This role suits someone confident managing priorities independently and comfortable operating in a fully remote environment.

• ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent), or AAT qualified and actively studying.
• 5+ years’ experience within a UK accounting practice.
• Strong technical grounding in statutory accounts, VAT and corporation tax.
• Experience owning a client portfolio (10+ clients).
• Confident reviewing others’ work and taking accountability for quality.
