Position: Project Costs Business Partner - 6 month FTC
Location: City of Edinburgh

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to support a high-profile integration programme. This is a hands‑on, project‑focused role, working within a small and agile finance team to deliver robust cost forecasting, financial control, and project coordination.

You will partner closely with senior stakeholders to manage financial performance across multiple project phases, with a particular focus on forecasting resource‑driven costs in a fast‑moving environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Cost Forecasting & Resource Modelling (Primary Focus)
  • Develop and maintain detailed project cost forecasts across multiple phases
  • Build and manage resource models covering fluctuating workforce levels
  • Deliver weekly forecast updates, adapting quickly to changes in assumptions and demand
  • Provide insight and challenge on cost drivers and forecast accuracy
Month‑End & Financial Control
  • Perform actuals vs forecast analysis
  • Support month‑end close activities including journals and reconciliations
  • Review transaction listings and ensure accuracy of project cost reporting
Project Coordination & Process Development
  • Support project governance through financial tracking and reporting
  • Map and improve finance processes within the project environment
  • Coordinate timelines, dependencies, and reporting
  • Act as a key link between finance and project delivery teams
About You:

Essential Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience in cost forecasting and resource modelling
  • Advanced Excel skills (including building models, automation, and handling complex datasets)
  • Proven ability to build and implement finance processes from scratch
  • Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, evolving project environment
  • Solid understanding of month‑end processes, including journals and reconciliations
Desirable
  • Experience with in large transformation or integration programmes
  • Background in financial services
  • Accounting qualification or equivalent experience
  • A naturally commercial and project‑oriented mindset
Working Environment
  • Small, collaborative finance team with high visibility
  • Fast‑paced, delivery‑focused culture requiring agility and responsiveness
  • Strong preference for Bristol‑based candidates due to the interactive nature of the role – some time in office weekly
