Finance Business Partner - Operations & Reporting

Contract: 10 months
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
Location: Edinburgh (hybrid)
Rate: 243.25 per day

Provide financial leadership across budgeting, reporting, tax, and payroll. Ensure accurate financial records, deliver timely management information, support forecasting and decision‑making, lead the payroll function, and deputise for the Head of Finance.

• Maintain accurate financial ledgers and trial balance.
• Support annual budgeting and deliver timely, accurate management reports.
• Work with managers to maintain realistic income and expenditure forecasts.
• Oversee compliance with direct/indirect tax, including VAT returns, partial recovery, Gift Aid, and PAYE benefits.
• Advise on IR35 and self‑employment considerations.
• Lead the payroll team, ensuring deadlines, accuracy, and smooth processes.
• Provide flexible team support across financial management and systems; deputise for Head of Finance.

• Staff leadership experience and strong communication skills.
• High numeracy with analytical and problem‑solving capability.
• Customer‑focused, collaborative, and supportive team approach.
• Advanced IT and Excel skills; confident using accounting systems.
• Knowledge of tax, including partial VAT recovery.
• Strong grounding in financial and accounting principles; up‑to‑date professional knowledge.
• Professional qualification (CA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience.

• Knowledge of Charity SORP.
