Job Introduction

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Edinburgh East branch as a Corporate Banking Manager. The successful candidate will have responsibility for managing a portfolio of business customers across the full suite of corporate products and services.

Full responsibility for all aspects of client relationships is expected, including preparation of credit applications, customer financial and risk analysis, balance sheet analysis, annual reviews, monitoring of management accounts, covenant compliance, and profitability.

You will be required to develop the portfolio further to grow the business, through interactions with existing customers, as well as winning and onboarding new customers, with a passion for customer service and a strong focus on profitability and business development.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop a portfolio of corporate customers, building relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction through excellent service.
  • Identify, meet, and win prospective new customers/introducers by outlining how we work and what we can offer in terms of service and facilities.
  • Complete credit applications and credit annual reviews in line with the Bank’s Credit Policy.
  • Interpret financial information provided by customers, evaluating lending propositions, assessing and formulating risk ratings correctly, and structuring transactions to ensure the right customer selection.
  • Develop and maintain a sound understanding of the local market, and maintain relationships with professional firms and introducers.
  • Attend suitable networking events and undertake focused business development activities.
  • Identify and offer customers, on a needs basis, the appropriate Handelsbanken products and services, effectively communicating relevant features, benefits, and risks.
  • Manage general administration, preparation/review of legal documentation for accounts (including KYC/AML reviews), lending facilities, and securities.
Ideal Candidate
  • Applicants with a proven track‑record in corporate relationship and portfolio management are welcomed. The successful candidate will understand the Bank’s Credit Policy and processes, drive performance, and have demonstrable knowledge of the Bank’s suite of corporate products as well as competitor products, relevant industry and market‑driven trends.
  • The successful applicant will build strong professional relationships at all levels, represent Handelsbanken effectively, and possess essential written and verbal communication skills.
  • The applicant must be a strong team player, flexible, proactive, conscientious, and bring a positive attitude. Integrity, discretion, and the ability to work under pressure are essential.
  • The successful candidate will appreciate the need to provide exceptional service to existing and potential customers, with strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
  • Previous experience with lending documentation/security and AML/KYC procedures for business customers/transactions is advantageous.
  • A high level of computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel) is essential; training will be provided on additional internal IT systems.
