About the Client
Our client is a highly regarded national private client law firm in Scotland. The firm supports a diverse client base including individuals, families, trusts, and charitable organisations, so this opportunity is posed for variety and continuous development.

About the Opportunity
A new opportunity has arisen for a Trust Accountant to join the firm's Tax & Succession team. This is a permanent, full-time position based in Edinburgh, with hybrid working available once you're established in the role. You'll work closely with both legal and tax professionals to support the financial management and administration of trusts, executries, and charities. This is an ideal role for someone looking to develop their expertise in a collaborative and professional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and finalise accounts for trusts, executries, and charities
  • Reconcile trust cash accounts and investment registers
  • Liaise with internal tax teams to confirm tax retentions and reconcile tax positions
  • Determine opening balances and gather relevant financial data for account preparation
  • Edit and audit existing accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Collaborate with legal teams, external tax advisers, and investment managers
  • Provide administrative support for larger clients where needed
  • Contribute to process improvements and support efficient, cost-effective service delivery

About You
You'll bring a solid understanding of legal accountancy, ideally with experience in trust and executry accounting. While knowledge of charity accounting is beneficial, training can be provided. You should be confident working independently, with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Excellent communication and organisational skills are key, along with a high level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive financial information. Proficiency in Excel is important, and you'll be supported to learn other internal systems used by the firm.
