As a qualified accountant, this is an opportunity to work closely with caring and enthusiastic professionals who are committed to making a difference. You will lead and develop a team of finance staff and be the pivotal finance link for a business unit. You will work closely with Directors, Senior Doctors, Nurses & Managers to come up with innovative solutions to the challenges facing the health system.

You will use your analytical and problem solving skills to understand the story behind the data but get involved in so much more than just the numbers. You will be involved in educating and training non finance colleagues but also take the opportunity to learn from them as well. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic qualified finance professional with a passion for detail and analysis with the ability of building relationships with key stakeholders.

Key responsibilities
  • Analyse cost drivers and understand variances, and trends.
  • Month end management accounting, forecasting and yearly financial planning.
  • Improve financial ‘grip and control’ and provide support and advice to senior management in relation to their budget.
  • Participate in the development of business case proposals.
  • Support services with the identification and measurement of saving opportunities.
  • Financial representative and key member of business unit senior management teams.
  • Manage a small team of management accountants.
  • Liaise closely with other parts of the wider finance team.

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
