Salary: £71,725 – £87,612 (National Minimum £71,725 – £79,481, London Weighting applies).
Do you want to use your tax expertise to help boost investment and grow the UK economy? As part of the newly established Advanced Tax Certainty Service (ATCS) you will play a pivotal role in providing upfront tax certainty on major investment projects, supporting the government’s commitment to increased stability and certainty for businesses.
We are looking for three experienced tax experts to deliver high‑quality technical advice to Corporate, Capital Allowances and Research & Development (R&D) stakeholders, working collaboratively across HMRC and feeding into an evolving service.
Responsibilities- Lead high‑quality tax analysis and issue clearances to businesses.
- Build effective working relationships internally within HMRC and externally with senior business and tax advisor teams.
- Support the future development of the service through incremental improvements and planning for expansion.
- Manage and develop team members to successfully deliver the service in the next phase.
Roles:
Corporation Tax Specialist, Corporation Tax – Capital Allowances Specialist, Corporation Tax – Research & Development (R&D) Specialist.
- Significant recent experience of high‑quality technical tax analysis or advice on complex Corporation Tax issues within large‑scale commercial investment projects.
- Proven ability to manage and lead complex projects or enquiries end‑to‑end.
- Ability to get up to speed quickly on issues and work at pace to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, including mentoring junior colleagues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage and prioritise complex and competing demands.
- Significant experience of leading technical tax analysis on complex Corporation Tax, R&D or capital allowances, identifying the correct tax treatment for major commercial investment projects that can withstand senior scrutiny.
- Proven ability to develop load‑bearing relationships both internally and externally to achieve positive outcomes.
- Strong evidence of managing a busy workload, prioritising different tax technical projects using efficient resource allocation to deliver the best outcome overall.
- Hold one of the listed qualifications below.
- Chartered Accountant (ICAEW, ICAS, CAI, ACCA) qualification.
If appointed to 100 Parliament Street, you will be required to obtain a Counter‑Terrorist Check (CTC) level clearance, normally requiring a minimum three‑year UK residence period. You may not be able to start in the location until clearance is granted.
Qualifications- Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualification.
- Successful completion of the HMRC Tax Specialist Programme, or one of its predecessors (TPDP, IDP, ITS2, CPT, FT2).
