Location: City of Edinburgh

We are seeking a Lead Process Engineer with strong technical expertise and project leadership skills to join our team. The successful candidate will support process engineering activities across all phases of design, from concept to commissioning, ensuring optimal safety, efficiency, and compliance with industry standards as well as participating in operation of our units.

Supported by an experienced team delivering a technology that achieves world's lowest-ever rate of electricity consumption for desalination and water re-use, the Senior Process Engineer takes on an important role to ensure development of exciting industry-first projects in various locations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Support commissioning
    , start-up
    , and operations troubleshooting activities
  • Perform feasibility studies and cost estimates for new plants
  • Perform process simulations using tools such as DWSIM
  • Conduct mass and energy balances
    , hydraulic calculations, and line sizing
  • Prepare and review process datasheets for equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, and vessels
  • Provide input on equipment selection, plant layout
    , and process optimisation
  • Participate in HAZOP, and risk assessments
  • Support FEED, basic, and detailed engineering phases of projects
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, etc.)
  • Review vendor documents and ensure compliance with process requirements
  • Ensure that detail design methods, standards and data used conform with client's requirements
  • Assist as required in the preparation of operating and maintenance manuals
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
  • 15+ years of experience in process engineering or process design (EPC, operating company, or design consultancy)
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g. HYSYS, Aspen Plus, PRO/II, DWSIM)
  • Strong understanding of industry standards (e.g. API, ASME, ISO)
  • Experience in HAZOP, SIL, or other safety reviews
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving
    , and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or in a team
