The Opportunity

We are seeking a Highways Engineer to join our expanding Scottish Roads and Highways team. In this role, you will contribute to the delivery of a diverse portfolio of projects, working as part of a close‑knit and supportive team. Collaborating with specialists from across multiple disciplines, you will play a key role in developing and delivering practical, high‑quality solutions for our clients.

About

The Role

In this role, you will play a key part in delivering a high‑quality service to a diverse client base, including Local Authorities and Design & Build Contractors. You will be involved in a broad range of highways projects, from local improvement schemes to nationally significant strategic projects and frameworks.

Key Responsibilities Will Include
  • Contributing to the technical delivery of highways and roads projects across all stages of design
  • Working closely with clients to help shape and influence the development of highways schemes across the region
  • Supporting the delivery of projects in collaboration with teams across the UK, contributing to both large‑scale and smaller commissions
  • Ensuring high standards of quality, safety and consistency in all project outputs
You Will
  • Oversee and review the work of others to ensure high‑quality technical output
  • Lead, mentor and support junior engineers and apprentices, helping them develop their skills and confidence
  • Take accountability for your own work while encouraging best practice across the team

About You
  • Be experienced in highways infrastructure design, delivering multi‑disciplinary projects across the full project lifecycle, from concept, feasibility and planning through to detailed design and delivery
  • Working knowledge of CDM and BIM processes
  • Confidence in applying relevant road design standards and guidance
  • Experience using Civil 3D (or similar design software)

Qualifications
  • You’ll be BSc/BEng/Meng
  • Working towards Incorporated or Chartered status.
