About the Role
Senior Mechanical Engineer at Orchid Solar, the company’s first engineering hire.
The role will lead the design, build, and testing of our high‑temperature solar thermal prototype, taking the system from detailed engineering through fabrication, assembly, and validation.
LocationOn‑site at the Royal Observatory Edinburgh.
Responsibilities- Lead the design of high‑temperature solar thermal prototype components.
- Oversee fabrication, assembly, and validation activities.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to meet project milestones.
- Ensure mechanical integrity and performance of the prototype under high‑temperature conditions.
- Strong mechanical design experience.
- Hands‑on prototyping skills.
- Experience or exposure to high‑temperature systems.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
