We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and committed Principal Teacher to join our Senior Leadership Team at Canal View Primary School. The Principal Teacher will lead quality assurance activities to plan, develop and monitor the continuous improvement of our Nursery and will develop, deliver and monitor high‑quality learning and teaching, with a particular focus on Literacy.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and share a passion for ensuring the highest possible quality of learning across the school. They will be required to model high standards of pedagogy to inspire, motivate and support colleagues in the development of their own classroom practice.
Responsibilities- Lead quality assurance activities to plan, develop and monitor the continuous improvement of the Nursery.
- Develop, deliver and monitor high‑quality learning and teaching with a particular focus on Literacy.
- Support engagement of families in their learning journey.
- Participate in school events such as Coffee Mornings and Open Days.
- Maintain regular communication with parents through newsletters, letters, playground meetings, etc.
- Attend regular Senior Leadership Team meetings and provide progress updates on curriculum development and improvement priorities.
- Lead Child Planning Meetings for identified learners/families using the GIRFEC model.
- Collaborate with Educational Psychologists to ensure appropriate support for identified learners.
- Coordinate with additional supports (e.g., school nurse, Speech and Language, play therapist) to ensure appropriate support for identified learners.
- Complete referrals for additional supports as and where necessary.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Applicants must join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. If the individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required.
Successful candidates will be deemed satisfactory following these pre‑employment checks.
